The ICRT is a postgraduate teaching and research centre at Leeds Metropolitan University with just less than 100 blended learning students pursuing our MSc in Responsible Tourism Management and ten doctoral students.

The ICRT is for Responsible Tourism. Our work focuses on the principles of the Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism in Destinations, we work in originating markets and destinations around the world, to harness tourism to make "better places for people to live in and for people to visit." We work with governments, tour operators and accommodation providers to realise the aspirations of the Responsible Tourism Movement in which we have played a major part since 1997.

Our aspiration is to be a critical friend, raising issues but working together to find solutions, we seek to encourage and enable people to take responsibility for making the changes necessary to make tourism more sustainable. We research the issues around the sustainability of tourism and advocate solutions based on research and scholarly activity. We believe that evidence and clear thinking matters. read more
